Another milestone has been recorded in the history of Georgian medicine — at the Karazanashvili Robotic Center, the first artificial urinary bladder surgery in the South Caucasus was successfully performed using robotic surgery.
It is noteworthy that the robotic creation of an artificial urinary bladder is currently carried out in only a few highly specialized clinics worldwide, which gives this procedure exceptional significance at both regional and international levels.
In Georgia, the surgery was successfully performed at the Karazanashvili Robotic Center. Professor Guram Karazanashvili is the first robotic surgeon in the South Caucasus to create an artificial urinary bladder using robotic surgical technology.
🥇 Why robotic surgery?
Robotic surgery is particularly effective for complex reconstructive procedures such as the creation of an artificial urinary bladder. Its main advantages include:
✅ Minimally invasive incisions — reducing the risk of infection and ensuring faster healing
✅ Prevention of thromboembolic complications
✅ Significantly shorter rehabilitation time and faster patient mobilization
✅ Minimal tissue trauma — resulting in little to no postoperative pain
In the video, you will hear the patient’s personal story. The patient shares their own experience and explains how innovative medicine helped them return to an active life. The real-life outcome is the best proof of the effectiveness and safety of robotic surgery.
