On May 18, 2018, the American Urological Association (AUA) Congress will open in San Francisco and will continue until May 21. For the first time in the history of Georgian medicine, a Georgian doctor, onco-urologist Professor Guram Karazanashvili, has been invited to present his innovative surgical method.
The unique surgery performed by him for bladder cancer – a nerve-sparing cystoprostatectomy with the formation of a neobladder (artificial urinary bladder) – has attracted significant international attention from the global urology community. A video demonstration of this operation will be presented at the AUA Congress on May 19.
Before being selected for the congress, Professor Karazanashvili’s innovative technique underwent rigorous review by leading onco-urology experts and was evaluated as a new standard in oncological surgery. On May 19, urologists from around the world will be introduced to this groundbreaking approach.
Professor Guram Karazanashvili has already departed for the United States.
This represents a major achievement for Georgian medicine and onco-urology on the global stage.
